Sage Software Healthcare, Inc. today announced that Old Hook Medical Associates, a family practice in Emerson, N.J., utilized Intergy EHR by Sage to proactively identify and notify patients potentially at risk of coronary problems possibly resulting from the drug Avandia.Physicians at Old Hook recently responded to news regarding potential coronary risks posed by the drug Avandia by using Intergy EHR to locate all patients currently using the drug. The physicians then contacted the patients, scheduled an office visit, and discussed with them potential Avandia side effects. By leveraging technology, Old Hook greatly enhanced their ability to provide care for their patients, and quite possibly prevented adverse patients outcomes by identifying customers who may have increased risk for circulatory or heart complications.
“With just the click of a few keys, Intergy EHR allowed us to identify our patients who were using Avandia, contact them, and schedule appointments to determine appropriate action,” said Dr. Edward Gold, Old Hook Medical Associates. “The interactive capabilities of Intergy EHR made it very easy to identify and get in touch with them.”
Executives with Sage Software Healthcare, Inc., applaud the use of electronic medical records especially in instances where lives are potentially at risk.
“The fact that Dr. Gold and the other physicians at Old Hook Medical Associates were able to use Intergy EHR to contact their patients about such a timely issue is a testament to the 360-degree view our products bring to a practice…in this case, a critical view of clinical records,” said Andy Corbin, CEO, Sage Software Healthcare. “We’re proud to be able to offer such a product to practices like Old Hook Medical Associates, and are pleased to see our customers maximize the product’s potential to improve quality of care.”
